Beyond Uruapan's 60th Annual

Domingo de Ramos Parade

Mexico is famous for her tropical sands, palm trees and men donning colorful ponchos with wide-rimmed sombreros - but nothing can be more truly genuine than witnessing and participating in the vibrant cultural celebrations of Latin America.

Our first major experience will begin with the 60th anniversary of the Tianguis Artesanal in Uruapan on Saturday, April 4th.  We will explore the art market in both Uruapan and Patzcuaro, visit several art villages of Lake Patzcuaro, and witness the sobering Procession of Silence in the City of Morelia.

This tour has two optional conclusions - one for those here on a short term stay, and those who would like to stay longer.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO EXPERIENCE & LEARN

  • 60th Anniversary of the Tianguis Art Parade & Market, Uruapan

  • Art Market in Pueblo Magico Patzcuaro

  • Art Villages around the Lake Patzcuaro Region

  • La Ruta del Mezcal & Dinner in Morelia

  • Procession del Silencio Morelia

BE CONSCIOUS OF LOCAL ENVIRONMENT & CULTURE

  • Please carry refillable water bottle & to-go mug (we will have water available in the van for refills)

  • Please wear modest clothing out of respect for the locals.  Skirts and shorts should be just above the knee, and necklines should not be revealing.

  • Photographs at the parade are expected, but please seek permission for close-up photography in the markets and streets.

WHAT MAKES YOU A GOOD FELLOW TRAVELER

  • Punctuality - crucial for fluid travel

  • Flexibility - always expect the unexpected

  • Participation - including one daily group photo

  • Consideration - please don't chit chat during presentations

  • Cooperation - the rules are made for all of us, including you

  • Respect - for local customs & protocols

  • Diplomacy - agree to disagree about politics & religion

  • Confidence - know your limits

We are working out the details!  Please email us if you would like info!

We aim to have this tour finalized by February 14th
