Dia de Muertos - Capula, Michoacan Mexic

Miguel Angel Torres and Adriana Cortés Espinosa are from Capula, Michoacán. Miguel was born in 1980 and Adriana in 1977 in a town full of magic, art, and great enthusiasm for various types of crafts. From childhood they worked alongside their parents, creating earthenware, casseroles, pots, plates, cups, and tableware. In 2000 they began creating clay catrinas with the Cruz Torres family, beginning a new stage in their lives. They have now achieved much recognition for their own catrinas, having participated in regional, state, and national competitions.

They have now achieved recognition from far and wide for their own catrinas, having participated in regional, state, and national competitions. They are influenced in their work by the natural beauty around them, the stunning landscapes and age old traditions. This is what gives them their greatest joy in life: designing and creating original art, working together to bring their pieces to life, as well as providing work for local families by passing down their knowledge to keep the Mexican and Purépecha tradition alive.
